If you have been lying awake wondering who he is really texting, please read this before you do anything else. Especially before you say a word to him.
Almost every week, a message like this arrives in my inbox.
Her husband has been different lately. Home later. On his phone more, and turning it face down when she walks in. There is a name from work that keeps coming up, always mentioned a little too casually. And there is a feeling in her stomach that will not go away no matter how many times she tells herself she is being ridiculous.
If that is you right now, I want to say something before anything else.
Those are not the same thing, and the difference matters enormously.
Women are taught very early to distrust their own perception. To be easy-going. To not make a fuss. So when something feels wrong, the first instinct is usually to argue yourself out of it rather than look at it properly.
But here is what I have learned in all my years of reading for people. The feeling almost always arrives before the evidence does. It is not always about an affair. Sometimes it is something else entirely. But the feeling itself is rarely wrong that something has changed.
What you do in the next few days matters more than you realise. So before you go further, there are three things I would ask you not to do.
I know. Every part of you wants to. It feels like the fastest route to the truth, and you may even feel entitled to it.
But think about what happens next. If you find nothing, you will not feel relief, you will feel unfinished, and you will look again next week. If you find something ambiguous, a friendly message, a laughing emoji, you will spend three days interpreting it. And if he catches you, the entire conversation stops being about his behaviour and becomes about yours. You will have handed him the moral high ground while you are the one who was wronged.
Searching almost never delivers the peace you are searching for. It usually just relocates the anxiety.
There is a version of this conversation that happens at eleven at night, fuelled by three weeks of silent panic, and it never goes the way you need it to.
If he is not hiding anything, an accusation lands like a wound and you will spend months repairing something that did not need repairing. If he is hiding something, an unprepared accusation only gives him warning. He will not confess, he will simply become more careful. You will have spent your one moment of surprise and learned nothing.
You only get to have that conversation once with real weight behind it. Do not spend it while you are still guessing.
Your sister will have an opinion. Your best friend will have a stronger one. And once you have said it out loud to five people, you are no longer only managing your marriage, you are managing everyone else's version of it.
If it turns out to be nothing, the people you told will remember it long after you have both moved on. Confide in one person you trust completely, and no more than that, until you actually know what you are dealing with.
Here is what makes a work situation so particularly painful, and so hard to read from the outside.
Work gives two people something a marriage often struggles to compete with. Hours of shared time with no children in the room, no bills on the table, no history of unresolved arguments. Shared pressure. Private jokes. The feeling of being seen doing something you are good at.
It rarely begins as an affair. It usually begins as relief.
Which is exactly why it is so difficult to name. There may be no lie you can point to. No message you could show anyone. Just a distance where there used to be closeness, and a name that comes up too often, and a growing sense that you are competing with something you cannot see.
And there is a genuinely important possibility you must stay open to, because I have seen it many times. Sometimes the withdrawal is real and the affair is not. Work stress, a health worry he has not admitted to, depression, money trouble, shame about something with nothing to do with you. Men very often go quiet rather than speak, and the silence looks identical from where you are standing.
Most women believe they have only two choices. Say nothing and slowly lose their mind, or confront him and detonate everything.
There is a third path, and it is the one I would choose every time.
Find out what is actually happening first. Then decide, from solid ground, calmly, with the whole picture in front of you rather than fragments of it at two in the morning.
That is what I do.
I have spent my life reading for people in exactly this position. Women who knew something had shifted long before anyone believed them. Women who were told they were imagining it.
I do not need his phone. I do not need proof. I read the energy of the connection between you and your husband, and the energy of any third presence around him, and I tell you plainly what I see.
Sometimes what I see is an affair. Sometimes it is a man carrying something he has not told you about. I will tell you which, even when it is not the answer you were braced for.
1. Tell me who. Your first name and date of birth, and his. If you have a name for the person at work, include it. If you do not, that is completely fine.
2. Ask me up to three questions. Most women ask some version of "is there someone else", "does he still love me", and "what should I do".
3. I read, and I write to you. Your reading arrives by email, privately. No one else ever needs to know you asked.
For some reason Samira knows an awful lot about me. She is scary accurate.
Thank you so much Samira for my reading today. You do put so much time into it. I am very grateful and everything you have said totally resonates with what is going on with my life at the minute.
The theme continues and connects with my life's happenings. It's uncanny really. As soon as I get a bit skeptical, she says something else.
Samira always knows what is going on in my life and she gives great advice. Everything she has told me resonates with what is actually happening. Such a beautiful gift you have.
Samira, you are incredible and absolutely gifted. My email reading was just spot on. Really is what I needed to read and has definitely lifted me. I couldn't be any more grateful.
Samira's readings always resonate with my current situation and make complete sense. It gives me strength and guidance to know how I'm feeling and thinking is right.
I'm blown away by how accurate your readings are, and scared at the same time. I think I need an in-depth reading with you.
Today's reading was exactly what I needed. Thank you for always putting things into perspective so I can see things clearly.
Imagine going to bed tonight without running the same three scenarios in your head.
Imagine seeing his phone face down on the counter and feeling nothing much at all, because you already know what is on it.
Imagine sitting across from him in a conversation you have chosen, at a time you have chosen, saying exactly what you mean, because you are no longer guessing.
That is not really about him. That is you getting yourself back.
You already sense something. Let me tell you what it is.
Samira
